Today we’re stoked to unveil optimistic.etherscan.io, our collaboration with Etherscan, the premier block explorer and analytics platform for Ethereum.
With the Etherscan integration, Optimistic Ethereum users will be able:
- Monitor deposits and withdrawals
- Complete withdrawals on L1 (coming soon!)
- View when L2 transactions are pre-confirmed by the sequencer and when they have been posted and finalized in batches on L1
- Verify and publish the source code of OVM-compiled contracts
Etherscan is the unsung hero of blockchain usability. They’re a team of OGs that have been working through bull and bear markets continuously for the last 6 years to empower individuals by making highly technical information about Ethereum easily searchable and human-readable.
We’d like to extend a huge shoutout to the members of their team that made this possible, with a special ❤ for Caleb who led the integration! The professionalism, work ethic, and infectious smiles of the Etherscan team made every interaction so joyful — we had so much fun collaborating!
Why is the domain optimistic rather than optimism?
Optimistic Ethereum is the network that we’re building! Our philosophy is to stay as close to Ethereum as possible in both architecture and philosophy, so that we can scale Ethereum as an extension of Ethereum rather than a completely separate protocol that simply sits on top.
What makes Ethereum work is all the incredible infrastructure surrounding it, and this design principle allows us to seamlessly integrate pillars of Ethereum, like Etherscan! This integration was made simpler through the proximity in design of Optimistic Geth and Geth and our complete support of the Ethereum JSON RPC API.
This is a major milestone for usability on Optimistic Ethereum, and we can’t wait to unveil the next infrastructural integration ❤.
